Marketing communications coordinators develop materials and interact with internal and external clients to deliver an organization's messages to the public and the media. Depending on the size of the company, marketing company, or public relations firm, coordinators typically report to a marketing manager or marketing director. These coordinators contribute to the development of publications and websites, facilitate marketing campaigns, schedule meetings, create timelines, and help plan events.
An integral part of this position is producing content for both print and Web, including brochures and newsletters. Coordinators serve in support capacity for executive staff and the position often includes administrative duties, such as meeting coordination and production timeline development.
Depending on the size of the company, marketing communications coordinators may also write and distribute press releases. Often marketing communications coordinators will write content for company newsletters, and some companies may require coordinators to have experience in graphic design to be able to complete such tasks independently.
